My Wallet
Inside My Wallet
Finances are something my family—and honestly, a lot of people—don’t like to talk about. On one hand, I get it. There’s something comforting about keeping your income and spending private. On the other, I think there’s real value in transparency, especially when we live in a world where it feels like you have to be making bank just to look cool on Instagram or TikTok.
This page is my way of pushing back on that. Each month, I’ll break down my spending, expenses, and net worth. Spoiler alert: the only thing this page will prove is that I’m poor (for now).
Seriously—my net worth is deeply negative (see post). That’s what happens when you take out hundreds of thousands of dollars in loans for medical school—with a little help from undergrad and business school debt too. But I’m not ashamed of it. I think it’s important to show what real financial life looks like, especially during residency.
My goal is to keep this going monthly, at least through residency. We’ll see what happens after that.
